Books set in Alaska, New York and Scotland at Christmas

  • Submitted: 7th December 2018

There are many books set at Christmas. There are certain locations around the world such as Alaska and Lapland where you might expect to spend time in a Christmas novel. However, New York is a city famous for its Christmas flavour. It’s the city that never sleeps after all! And what about the Scottish highlands? The remote hills, the large manor houses, the stags in the woods…like something from a Christmas card. So let’s travel via books at Christmas in Alaska, New York and Scotland….ready….?

BookTrail travel to ALASKA

A lovely read over the cold winter period with a bit of romance to warm your heart. There’s the holiday feel and the cold outdoors …

The town in Alaska (fictional) is called Ponder and Josie in this novel certainly has a lot of that to do! What about Palmer? He and Josie seem to be getting close. Local man Jack tries to bring them together but in his own way, which is a bit Frank Spencer in some ways and a bit Basil Fawlty in others. Does he have reasons for doing what he does?

Setting is also something Debbie does really well and this remote, cold community in Alaska is no exception. You will feel you are there and will really want to stay there yourself. It’s a lovely place to be! Lack of ferries, lack of contact with the outside world gives city girl Josie even more to think about.

Books set in New York - Mandy Baggot

BookTrail travel to NEW YORK

One New York Christmas by Mandy Baggot

This books takes to the city that never sleeps with two characters who want to see it all!

You can really use this book as a visit to the city itself as it features no end of real life bars, parks, streets and places which you can and should visit for real. Mandy showcases the city by wrapping it in the story itself and allowing the characters to reveal themselves and what they see, as the story unfolds.

Have yourself a Merry Mandy Baggot Christmas in the city that never sleeps!

Books set in Scotland Sarah Morgan Christmas sisters

BookTrail Travel to the Scottish Highlands

Fictional small community of Glensay

It’s nice to have Christmas with family. People who gather in one house in the Scottish highlands to spend time with one another. Family time can be nice, but families with secrets? Secrets which threaten to come out…

It’s a gorgeous setting, but it’s what happens behind closed doors that’s the most interesting…

Merry Christmas travelling where ever you are and which ever book you travel with!
