Nothing better than a new bookshop

  • Submitted: 17th March 2018

February has been a wonderful month up in Northumberland. For years, the gorgeous village of Corbridge has had, at first one book shop and then two. The main one on the market square was for adult fiction and non fiction of all kinds, and now there’s one BIG shop in the Chapel gathering all the bookish goodness in one place.

It’s been open for little more than a week……but all the books are settling in nicely. As are the staff. How did the books move into their new home? What did it take to herd thousands of books from two shops into one?

To find out more, as the new shiny sign says:

There’s something so exciting about empty book shelves waiting to be filled…….

Wondering which books will go where……who will get a window view, who will be nearest the counter, or that fine chapel doorway…

Although to be fair when the human helpers have to take a break, there’s always the chance to do this…..

Go on, stroke the spines in the picture..you know you want to…..but sssh can you hear the excited chatter as the books whisper excitedly in their new home…

The Book Emporium is proud to present…..a full house of guests! Many with balcony views, tables full of bookish feasts below and a sea of books to jump into. This really is book paradise…

It was a real sense of community spirit getting all the books into their new humble abode…these human elves were busy busy busy ….nearly there!

Forum Books and Kids is now fully open and all the books settled into their new home….for now. They’re looking for their next adventure, their new home and excitedly chatting about where they will go next.

So will you be one of the lucky people to visit Corbridge, buy a book or two and take them home with you?
