Having a bit of a rest from posting blogs and author interviews at the moment. Life has become unbelievably hard and I just need to check out for a while.
Life at the moment is a vast open sea and I am drowning, not going to lie. The trails will continue as normal but if the messages continue asking where your trail is, why I haven’t answered, a message just telling me the trail is wrong but not telling me why, finding fault in information I put in as you didn’t provide what I asked for to help, then I will continue to ignore and possibly remove your books from MY site. Please and thank yous cost nothing. And to top it off, my twitter account has been locked. Money is being demanded for them to reopen it. I can’t afford it.
I will resume the site at some point. The costs of maintaining the site are going up and up. Happily, so are the stats! Belletrist have come on board!!!! OMG!!!!!! I love working on this site and being a part of the bookish community. I get so many kind messages and that keeps me going. I have made so many good friends via this site, been to so many events and had so many fine experiences I am eternally grateful.
I am so so honoured that the stats are climbing in many countries around the world, especially in the countries where I speak the language! Little old me learning verbs in my bedroom, never could have imagined this. Julia Bradbury on board and now BELLETRIST!!! OMG let me breathe!!
My travels and ability to read in five languages is allowing this site to grow in ways I could never have imagined and I am truly humbled and honoured. My breath is truly taken away. It’s been my love and lately, my life line and link to my dad who I lost at age five. He loved reading and spinning the globe beside my bed. This site is in honour to him and also to mum who continued to encourage my love of reading by taking me to libraries, buying books and making stories up herself. Sometimes falling asleep in the middle of them on my bed but hey…. 😉
However, now that Twitter is locked, costs are rising A LOT and life outside of my full time job is just, well, pants at the moment, I need to recharge. I need to take stock to see how I can best take the site forward. I am not defeated yet!
If this site works for you, if you like it, use it or if it has helped you – let me know. Let me know how I could improve it too! But be polite. I refuse to engage with people who expect things on their time line, for free, and get offended when I explain I have a full time job and a life.
This is a site for authors and readers primarily. But it’s a site that grew from the love of reading and travel that my dad shared with me. I don’t honestly know if I could survive without doing this website, crafting the maps, writing the travel guides, interviewing authors and just feeling the love of books and the bookish community.
However, I am never going to compromise integrity and honesty for anyone. But I need to think of myself and my finances right now. I can only give so much.
