BookTrail the locations in Savage Ridge

I am very excited with the books coming from Canelo at the moment. They have gripping premises and some excellent places in them. This one – Savage Ridge is fictional (thank goodness) but is set in the American Pacific Northwest. It’s a small town where a two boys murdered their classmate over 10 years ago. There were no arrests. Everyone left town. Now they are back.

To uncover what happened, you have to get to know the people behind the case. Those who left Savage Ridge and those that stayed behind. This was almost a locked room mystery as it was the literary equivalent of shining a spotlight on the town and then showing you the shadows, blood spots and things you might have missed the first time.

And the name Savage Ridge – I would so want to go there only in book form. It is very well evoked and seems very real. That just makes all of what goes on here particularly of a ‘ sticking in your throat’ consistency.

There are long-buried secrets of Savage Ridge. The family of the boy who was murdered – well they were interesting! And the cop who brings everyone back to town to answer for their crimes – very Poirot if I say so myself.

All in all, a savagely good read.
