COVER REVEAL – Christmas in Cornwall…

  • Submitted: 18th November 2016

Christmas is coming and that means a festive read or two. But the excitement of Christmas is all about the build up and the excitement of what is to be unwrapped, found under the tree. So like the lovely little Christmas elves who used to bring me a book or two early when I was little (thanks mum) my excitement lies with the cover reveals and the promises of novels filled with stockings hung over a roaring fire.

Just imagine, a novel or short story that just begs you to sit down beside that fire, blanket over your knees, a mince pie by your side and a box of tissues incase things get a bit too emotional.

And how about if all this took place in Cornwall?

Liz Fenwick is your Christmas elf bringing you a present to feast on that has less calories than that mince pie of yours. (Depends what else you eat when reading it) So are you ready?

Twas 6 weeks
Before Christmas
When all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
Not even a mouse

The stockings all hung
By the chimney with care
In hopes
That Liz Fenwick
Soon would be there

The bookworms were nestled
All safe in their beds
While visions of book covers
Danced in their heads…..

And those at Orion
In their finest attire
were waiting all dolled up
beside the big fire

When out on the lawn
There arose such a clatter
I sprang from my seat
To see what was the matter

Away to the window
I flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters
And threw up the sash

There standing before me

In the Narnia scene
was the lovely Liz Fenwick
Her smile all agleam

She entered the cottage
and sat by the fire
Impressed as she was
by Orion’ s attire

“We’re ready and waiting!”
I gave her a wine
A mince pie soon followed
The clock it did chime

And then she did show me
A book with a door

“so open the first page, pop in and explore”

The book is a story
of a woman with fears
who thinks that this Christmas
will all end in tears

Whose heart has all broken

Whose Christmas this year

will be filled with not joy

but with utter despair

Until there will be three
guests who will show
that a heart can be mended
and fixed with a glow

A present from Liz and

her publishing elves

An Orion short story

to put on your shelves!
