Locations in The Fertile Earth
This may be a fictional place but it is so representative of so many places in India -this is a country going through many changes fast and its people are being taken along for the ride whether they want it or not. India is changing more than most and add the differences and struggles of the caste system, then this is more a story of resilience and strength given the vague locations but the very real people who live and survive there.

Review
This was nicely done – a novel that starts at the end of the story and then looks back at how it all happens. A boy witnesses the downfall of a family. The way this downfall happened is what makes the novel and it is quite the story…emotional and insightful in so many ways.
The writing was evocative and gripping. The imagery colourful and wonderfully evoked. The characters are a complex mix of relatives, family and friends with some very interesting dynamics between them.
Location India – already you know it’s going to be colourful and a vibrant display of life in India at the time. There are violent uprisings tearing across the countryside and the India that once existed is changing. The country and its people are burning from the inside out.
