World Book Day 2026

  • Submitted: 23rd April 2026

World Bo0k Day 2026

A special day for book lovers everywhere and is a day always celebrated at The BookTrail!

Why I am thankful for books

Book Maps on TheBookTrail

– They are a constant reminder of how much my dad loved books and would read to me. A memory of how much mum would read and do the voices and then fall asleep hehe

– Books made me want to learn more languages so I could read more books

  • St Jordi in Barcelona will always be my favourite way to celebrate books on this day!

– As many of you know, Jules Verne and the book Around the World in 80 Days was the catalyst for this site. Dad spun the globe, read the story and I decided I wanted to be Passepartout, speak French (and many more languages) and then travel the world speaking those languages reading books and exploring bookish sites.

– I have met so many lovely authors and made many author friends now. I feel very lucky.

– The book community – bloggers, publishers etc are my community now and many of them feel like family! A cliché? No, the truth.

– The fact I get invited to do booktrails  in other countries and languages like this one:

-When I get lovely messages from readers asking about books, wanting recommendations, asking about the ma0s, saying they have discovered a place via a book and its map – my heart sings

-When I get lovely messages from publishers asking me to work with them on a book, or from ana author asking me to put their book on The BookTrail…. I smile and feel all happy that we are working on books together.

-The fact I get messages from all around the world makes me feel humble and honoured at the same time

-Mentions and honours like this mean the world and more!

-Collabs  really makes me smile and feel honoured I have another way of encouraging readers and books and bookish travel.

– The fact I do more bookish crafts now!

– I look at my bookshelves every day and see the books in them as a portal to festivals, friendships, maps, new books and older ones, memories of festivals and book events with the promise of more to come.

Thank you Dad, Mum, Jules Verne and Passepartout. My world is a very special and unique one because of your role in it.

Happy World Book Day everyone!
