Freeze set in the Arctic – Kate Simants

  • Submitted: 20th February 2023

Frozen Out will be the TV sensation of the year. In the harshest Arctic conditions, eight contestants will push their bodies and minds to breaking point for a £100,000 prize.

Haven’t read much about reality shows and not one set in the freezing cold! This could be good…

 BookTrail Travel to Freeze

This got me gripped from the off. A group of people who have never met are headed to the coast of Greenland on a ship. They have to spend a certain amount of time there if they are to be in with a chance of winning the jackpot.

Things go wrong from the start. When the actual time on the boat starts, things are already looking bad. A body is found. Who on earth is on this trip? It starts going very badly indeed.

I found it really exicting being on such a ship in the middle of nowhere. All you could see and smell was the ice. The author has done a wonderful job of creating this world on the page. It’s new to all of them and to film a reality show here must be something else. There’s all the logistics to think about and the fact that every day, there is the danger of freezing to death. Well, if someone doesn’t get you first.

There’s quite a few characters on that boat and tjhe author drip feeds their secrets one by one. It’s actually very clever how it all comes together and how that prologue comes into play. There seems no link at all, but when all the masks are off, there are some delicious twists to enjoy.

A thriller with added (frost) bite.
