BookOnTheMap – Portobello

The second destination on the #BookOnTheMap feature heads  up to the city of Edinburgh and the suburb of Portobello. A crime novel set in a town revisited after many  years where the secrets of the past are about to be revealed…

A windy Scottish seaside town proves to be quite the setting for this novel of intrigue and a cold case which suddenly is a very hot topic indeed…..

THE MAP….

What would happen if someone accused of a rape and murder in a small community was found out to be innocent and that someone else entirely was responsible? The family of the girl attacked move to South Africa. Her best friend Sarah stays there but the shadow which is cast over everyone who knew the girl, the family, what went on, continues to hang over them.

One man, Tom, returns to Portobello for a few reasons and to attend a school  reunion. Imagine going back to a place and facing the past in more ways than one?

“Portobello had not changed much in the last thirty-seven years: the wide sweep of the bay, the faint distant coastline of Fife and the huge pale sky.”
