Love story set in Edinburgh
Map Monday – I Dreamed of You
Where are we going this Map Monday? Edinburgh!
Dao and Sunny both grow up in Bangkok, but that’s where the similarities between the two end. When both are offered the opportunity to come to Edinburgh however, their stories merge and their map soon shows a most unexpected journey.

The setting:
The interesting map journey here is twofold – one from Bangkok to Edinburgh and the other when two people from Bangkok find their way around this new city, culture and language. The journey towards possible love and understanding is another way the story is mapped out.

Review
A sweet and emotional novel that will resonate with many on so many levels. There’s a lot of emotions in this book – first love, being away from home, having to do what your parents expect etc. Moving to another country is always interesting in a novel but here it’s very poignant too. Where the story threads start to unravel and where the stories diverge and then come together.
It’s quite dream like too and I would say it’s a novel that whispers slowly to you as you read. Imagine seeing someone you have only seen in your dreams?
Key quote:
“Jen was smiling at him like the girl in his dreams smiled at him, so blazing it matched the searing heat of the alcohol on his tongue. That very same feeling he’d had in his dreams was taking complete control of him.”
