Bookshop Highlight – Desperate Literature

This wonderful book haven finds itself in Madrid and has recently moved locations from a very small but darling shop to a much bigger premises with a basement that is to be transformed into something wonderful I am told!

I went to Madrid during the festive period to visit this store again, meet bookish friends (Hi Terry and Charlotte) make new ones (hello Oliver!) and to well, just bask in the wonderful bookishness.

They have totes! They have special date with a book, books in French, Spanish and English and it is a GREAT and wonderful bookish community right at the heart of Madrid. If I lived there, I would attend all their events and just visit all the time. It’s THAT good with my three favourite languages!

I can’t quite express the excitement of being in a book haven that has such a good selection of French, Spanish and English titles. I am in book heaven!!!

Desperate Literature

I visited more than once when I was there. Heck I would have moved in given half the chance. I very much enjoyed being in this very inspirational place and felt very honoured to have seen both locations and the change and the journey the Desperate team have been on. And the one to come in 2026 and beyond! I’m already looking forward to my return.

This is a very special place – do visit if you can!
