If there was a Christmas wish list for bookish things what would be on yours?

Here’s a few of mine:

NO STICKERS ON BOOKS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

Jail time for people who damage books or fold pages over 😉

All authors to get a good size and equal chunk of the marketing and PR budget

Debuts and long term authors to be celebrated equally

More indie bookstores

No or fewer celebrity authors – hey, if you write the book yourself, fair play – but NO ghostwriters or a clear sign to say who has actually written the book.

NAME THE TRANSLATOR AND ILLUSTRATOR (S) EVERY TIME

Reviewers and bloggers to be more valued for the huge amount of free publicity they do.

More book reviews to be in national newspapers, magazines and in the media in general

Between the Covers to be reinstated on BBC1

Another book programme to be prime time on TV

More book events online

Harrogate crime festival prices to be less – not just the festival but the hotels. Jeez!
