BookTrail the locations in The Cruise

A novel to transport you right on board a cruise ship

There’s always something to love about a book set on a ship. A cruise ship no less. You’d hope for a nice time but there are some very dodgy people on this one so take care. I mean , when the dancer Lola goes missing, it doesn’t look good does it?

Just as you would hope from a thriller set at sea, this is full of ups and downs as the story bobs one way and then the next. The setting was the main pull for me of course as I just love exploring a new ship, getting comfy in my cabin and getting used to the entertainment and ways of shiplife. This was done really well and I almost felt seasick at some point due to the evocative writing. There’s quite a bit of the story not set on the ship and this helps to build up the lead up to the story. The character backgrounds are interesting I must say!

This novel starts out one way and then I really found that it went in ways I had not expected. That’s a good thing! So many twists and turns and a killer ending if you excuse the pun. When the crew start driopping like flies and not just the dancer, wait until you start to investigate. Who exactly is on this ship and why? It’s not  the kind of cruise I would hope for in real life, but in a novel it’s a huge amount of fun.

Catherine Cooper writes some gripping plots and cool settings.I’ve been in a chateau and a chalet with this author and now a cruise. She would be great to go on holiday in real life as she would know all the dangers!

A huge amount of fun.
