French Book Friday – Nyons and St Tropez

  • Submitted: 12th January 2018

Another #FrenchBookFriday and there’s a great mix this week. Two by French authors and recommended by the rather wonderful Gallic Books and two by an author who got in touch to get her books on the French side of the map – so four French feasts to tuck into this week!

French Book Friday

French Book FridaySet – Venezuela – French writer M Bonnefoy – Gallic Books

An epic fable which is both a hymn to Venezuela and the magical story of an extraordinary hero. Octavio has some journey and it’s a great one to travel on yourself. Book in hand of course

French Book FridaySet – Nyons (France) and Geneva – Gallic Books

This is dark Garnier territory so  don’t expect sunshine and flowers in this part of France. What you do get is a story of redemption, love and humanity as you follow a man who after losing his wife and suffering a stroke, retires to the mountains with his nurse. One day a man arrives claiming to be his long-lost son…..

French Book Friday

Set – St Tropez with a few other attractive locations in between – Thirty five minutes from St Tropez

This writer knows and loves France. She’s set her two novels right in the heart of Provence and the Cote d’Azur. If it’s the sunny side of France you’re after, the vineyards, the scent of baking bread, olive oil and more you’re after, then, well, this is the book for you. There’s drives along the coast to Monaco, rides to San Remo and more besides. If you’ve ever wanted to stay on a farm or vineyard holiday then this might give you the taste for just that!

Love the Grand Prix? The second book in the author’s series heads down to Monaco for an even more thrilling visit to the Grand Prix circuit. There’s trouble back at the vineyard in France so an escape is much needed for the characters. There’s boating adventures as well or should that be superyacht adventures? The sunshine is still very much in evidence and if you’re not eating olives by the end of the book or drinking wine then why not?
