A novel to transport you to a Yorkshire manor house

I love a good dual time line novel and this is a really interesting one. Xanthe is our leading lady who is supposed to marry that cousin but instead heads out to the garden at a party to meet someone. then the fire happens and life changes for ever.

100 years later and we have Juliet who inherits a collage in the village where the mansion was. She finds out about the story of the fire and becomes fascinated by it. There’s something about Xanthe that she can’t put her finger on.

Now this is where I got the shivers. For the two timelines glide together and the women seem to become closer. It’s a breath-taking series of events and it gave me goosebumps. There’s an element of magic that comes into it now and I was captivated. It was like those moving stairs at Hogwarts  – brilliant beforehand but once the stairs move, it’s a wow.

This is the first time that I have read a dual-timeline that has made me shiver and sit up whilst reading. I was lounging back in a chair but when this part started, I felt I wanted to feel more alert? If that just me? I was captivated by the whole story and the way the author wove her magic around the characters. It’s actually really hard to talk about the rest of the novel as I want you to discover it for yourself!

I want to read this now – I listened on audio – as I need more of this magic in my life. I want the book a s trophy on my shelf.

Thank you Zoe!
