Kensal Green is an often-overlooked area of London, squeezed between the more famous Notting Hill and more Caribbean Harlesden. In fact, most of its residents are not alive. A quarter of a million lie in Kensal Green Cemetery.

Into the cemetery on his regular walk goes Wilf Kelly, an isolated, impoverished man, 30 years’ unemployed, repeating the same routines day after day. But today, he encounters a fox – wild, defiant, mesmerising. Wilf, being lonely, decides to tame it.

As we follow him on his journey of self-discovery, and his patient domestication of his new pet, the people of Kensal Green enter his awareness more and more. He understands that what has been missing in his life is people, socialisation, human bonds. He wants to change.

And when a crisis finally comes, it’s the people of Kensal Green who rally together behind him, dragging the whole of London into convulsion, creating a media firestorm that dominates the air waves, talk shows, and news bulletins.

Layer after layer is peeled back, as we find out how deeply Wilf affected the lives of many of his neighbours, how, over the years, he brought a different way of thinking into the community.
