Book Crafts

As well as reading, crafting is a huge love of mine. I love to craft when listening to audio books as I get to do my two favourite things at the same time! Some of the things I have made inspired by my favourite books.

The Forgotten Garden – and paper quilling tree

This tree was created with the help of a kit as I’m not artistic enough yet to go free style. As soon as I saw it, I thought of The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. The magical world created in that book, the nod to fairy tales and all that they entail comes out in this craft. It took me hours to weave and bend the paper into leaves, the trunk and flowers but it was totally worth it. I have created the world of The Forgotten Garden to remind myself of a favourite all time read.

Painting by Numbers and Emily Wilde

This cute kit I picked up at a store and I was immediately struck by how it reminded me of the world created in the Emily Wilde fantasy series.  Emily is a scholar who studies faeries and documents their lore, as she becomes entangled with the fae world and eventually becomes a faerie queen.

And my favourite:

Diamond/gem painting – A Poisoner’s Tale

This diamond/gem painting kit I searched for as I really wanted something to remind me of A Poisoner’s Tale, a novel that had really captured my imagination. It’s a book that will stick in my mind and so why not do a craft that sticks diamond gems to form a picture? I couldn’t believe I found something so perfect.

Another brunch, another craft.
