Authors on Location – the party
Authors on Location – the party
Imagine having a party with the authors you really have enjoyed the most this year. Oh there are so many but a few select five stand out who I would love to get in one room together for a bookish chat to beat all bookish chats!

Jennie Godfrey

A lovely, cheery lady and a fantastically insightful writer. First there was a list of suspicious things and next year she’s invited us all to a BBQ. Now THAT is an author who wants to shake things up and excite her readers.
Cathryn Kemp
The writer won the HWA Historical Writers Awards for her debut novel A Poisoner’s Wife. Now, as one of the judges for these awards I sadly still haven’t met Cathryn as I was unable to attend the award ceremony this year. SO, let’s have a party and Cathryn – we can chat over a cocktail (that I will watch you pour haha)

David is invited for his unique and stunning sartorial style. The shoes – have you SEEN his shoes, they are stunning! And the T shirts that are so carefully crafted and styled at events. David I see you and you are the Gok Wan of the book world for sure. This word smith is also one of my favourite historical fiction authors – his series is one of the best I have ever read. Hugely recommended!

Jo Callaghan

This author has totally taken me by surprise. Her subject of an AI detective was not one I thought was my thing or one I would enjoy but was I wrong? The way she crafted the premise and executed the series is just amazing and I totally recommend the Kat and Locke series. Even bought the first one in Dutch – which proves how much I love a book.

This man has single-handedly showed me how much I enjoy a little bit of fantasy in my reading. When it is set in a library or bookshop in the real world, then even better! The Book of Doors is stunning and he kindly gifted me a Spanish version. It was book of the year in Spain last year and no suprise – it’s amazingly good. And finally – despite me fangirling him when he came to North East England, he was very nice and not nervous at all haha.
Oh and one more….I couldn’t resist….

An author who stole the show at Bloody Scotland this year and quite rightly so! Think Dave would be a great guest at a bookish party with his wit and jokes. Plus with his knowledge of the spy world, he would be good to oversee the staff the security at the doors and keep an eye on things in general….good for all the goss too perhaps 😉
So there’s my six authors of choice for the end of year party but to be fair, these are the guest of honour as I would have as many authors as possible in the room. And all the bloggers, publicists and publishing peeps that have become such good friends.
