Whimsical story set in a Seoul Letter shop
The Seoul Letter Shop
Now this book is only in Spanish for now, but I have it on good authority that it comes out in English with Fourth Estate in June 2026. It can’t come soon enough!
What a lovely story – about a shop which sells stationery and where customers write letters to strangers. I loved it! It’s called The Marvellous Shop of Seoul and The Seoul Letter Shop in English and I can’t help thinking that a mix of the two would have been ideal!

Well this is just a delight! What a lovely idea for a shop and a story. It was dreamy and unbelievable in a way but very charming so when I found out this shop exists I was stunned but very very excited.
It gave me vibes of an old fashioned story where the art of letter writing is really celebrated and it’s a lovely idea. There is such an art of reading a letter and wondering about the person behind the penmanship. It is a lost and dying art but all this technology might be quicker but we lose so much.
The stories, the links and the worlds that open up here are a delight to discover. And I so want to visit now!!!
It had vibes of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and 84, Charing Cross Road with its simplicity and whims of a previous time. It just made me smile about human connections and all that it entails and it made me fall in love with all things stationery again. I swear I went out and visited Muji as soon as I read this. Honestly that shop has to start stocking this title – it’s a marketer’s dream collab!
Delightful and warmly whimsical
