The Trolley of Temptation

Whenever I travel, I take my trusted Trolley of Temptation with me. Even if the wheels don’t turn, the books on that trolley will take you to places…

dark trolley

Some dark reads recently devoured.

Black as Death Lilja Sigurdardottir

Black as Death

Brilliant end to an already brilliantly dark series.

Áróra’s sister Ísafold has gone missing in Iceland and her body has now been found but the killer still not found. This is the story of Ísafold’s last days, five days of terror and an ending I was not ready for.

Áróra and Daníel have turned out to be two of the most compelling characters I have read and I hope for their return!

Atmospheric and chilling

Home Before Dark Eva Björg ÆgisdóttirHome Before Dark

Eva Björg Ægisdottir really has to be applauded for such a gritty and compelling dual  timeline novel. A teenage girl goes missing and the story is taken up many years later by her sister on the anniversary of her disappearance. Oh the flashbacks were superb showcasing how fragile memories can be. Walking a fine line between truth and hidden truth, I started to see the clear picture and with such a sharp translation, it was easy to be transported by the words as well as by the excellent scene setting and heart stopping moments. How the author does all this and blends in events and nuances from Iceland’s history is nothing short of epic.

Body Count

Saffy is rich, living in London, and just so happens to be a psycho serial killer. She’s got a nice guy now but thinks she has to rid the world of the men who have done her wrong or been bad in some way.

Saffy narrates much of what she see and does in first person and that makes for a wild ride in the gory, killing stakes.

Quirky, gory and quirky some more.
