Scandi Book brunch

Does anyone eat a meal or snacks related to what they are reading?

Recently, I dipped into a book I have had for a while – Swedish folktales – and felt the need to eat something connected to that part of the world.

Swedish dill potatis – dill potatoes with salmon is one of my favourite meals – I got addicted to dill in Sweden as they put it on many things even crisps. I  feel eating something of the place I’m reading about has another dimension to the reading experience.

I can’t explain why but reading a book and eating something connected to it just heightens the experience for me. It’s like I am in the book or in that culture for a while and if I read in that language, it’s even better as I feel closer to the words, culture and food as a result.

Still to this day, I have not found a book where jaffa cakes feature however. I live in hope.
