Ooh you are in for one heck of a treat this June – this is National Crime Reading Month.

National Crime Reading Month is an annual initiative spearheaded and developed by the Crime Writers’ Association. It runs throughout June, this year in collaboration with The Reading Agency. It promotes crime reading right across the genre through bookshops, libraries, and venues such as museums and theatres, as well as online.
National Crime Reading Month aims to bring new books to existing readers and new readers to the world’s most popular and best-selling genre.
So, what is crime fiction?
Well… there are quite a few genres within the CRIME FICTION umbrella and you can search for books within each of the following on TheBookTrail :

Then you can also drill down and select where you want to visit within a crime novel – a city, the city’s underbelly, a rural setting or what about a murder in a castle? Take your pick from the list:
National Crime Reading Month culminates in the CWA Daggers at the end of June, where the UK’s most prestigious crime writing awards are handed out. Find out more about the Daggers at the CWA website.
