A novel to transport you to a forensic crime scene
Map of locations in The Good Liar
There are several reasons why Denise Mina is often touted as Crime Royalty. This book proves it to be honest. As well as razor sharp writing, there is a level of detail and inward thinking that is often rare in crime books of this gory nature. Chuck in ethics, morals and forensic intrigue and you have quite the thriller.
There’s a LOT of intrigue it would seem when it comes to forensic science and the chance of getting things wrong or misinterpreting the data. The premise of the book is a big one and follows a speech, an investigation and the fall out from both. An innocent man could be locked up….there is a LOT going on. ?Have a notebook to hand – ok so it’s complex in parts, sometimes overly so – but it pays off believe me.
As well as the forensic layer, you have the psychological one which really forms a moral compass and switching timelines that will blow your mind.
Truth and power, honesty and justice, forensic evidence and a moral compass..Mina has a puzzle for you that’s for sure.
The Good Liar has been shortlisted for the Mcllvaney Prize. Not surprised..
