A story about three female lesbian vampires is not something I thought I would enjoy if I’m honest but something about this book intrigued me. It’s the author who wrote Addie Larue for a start and I was wanted to travel to Boston, Spain and London across three timelines if I’m honest.
We start off in 1521 when we meet Maria who wants more from her small village so soon marries a viscount to escape the village. However, life with a viscount is not what she thought it would be. Then we go to 2019 and meet Alice who moves from Scotland to Boston. She too is running from her past but for very different reasons. By the time we get to London 1827, the three stories have merged and mingled with shadows and darkness.
I loved this line:
“The world will try to make you small. It will tell you to be modest, and meek. But the world is wrong. You should get to feel and love and live as boldly as you want.”
It’s really hard to describe this book – you need to experience it and go into it with as little previous knowledge as possible.
