TheBookTrail visits Libreria

Oh this is a bookshop I have wanted to visit for the longest time. All those gorgeous pics on Instagram! So, down in the big smoke, on the way to a chat with a publisher, I stopped by to visit this amazing place. Situated in Hanbury Street in Whitechapel…how did I not twig it was the Jack the Ripper Street!? Anyway, there’s something much more interesting than a Ripper tour stop here…there is a FANTASTIC Bookshop….

Libreria!

I had a chat with the lovely bookseller and asked if I could take pics. I won’t take any of the people in the back of the store I thought….realising later it was me in the mirror! Duh! Anyway, I had the store to myself for a while and I have never felt so pampered and honoured….

Imagine living here

The atmosphere is electric….

There’s a book den and plenty of cushioned seats…..

And about that address? Hanbury Street?

The Five Hallie Rubenhold

Looping back to Jack the Ripper, I was very pleased to see the wonderful Hallie Rubenhold’s book THE FIVE on the women who were murdered right in the heart of the store. This is one amazing book – it focuses on the women and not the man. It gives these women a voice and an identity that the media furore stole from them.

Libreria – 65 Hanbury Street, Whitechapel, London

With thanks to the lovely bookseller who served me, sold me a fab tote bag and book and then gave me a fab bookmark and stamped my book! I have always wanted to visit here and I will be back!
