Wanderlust Wednesday – Travel tips for bookworms
Travel tips for bookworms en situ
Apart from the obvious – find out where the local bookshops are and visit them, there are lots of ways to enjoy a visit to a new place if you are a bookworm.
Here’s a wonderful library I quite literally stumbled upon when wandering around Madrid…. I didn’t expect to find a library in a park!

Itinerary
- Book Themed Stays: Look for accommodation that are themed for booklovers like the Apostrophe Hotel in Paris or Book and Bed in Tokyo

- Visit Libraries: The Morgan Library & Museum in NYC anyone? or the Prague Klementium?

- Visit Bookshops: Seek out iconic spots like the bookshops in Hay-on-Wye or Shakespeare and Company in Paris. Ask bookstore owners for local recommendations to get a feel for the city’s culture and where the local authors write about.

- Map Literary Locations: Plan your trip around PLACES IN BOOKS!!! Well you knew this was going to be on there didn’t you?

Visit author houses or museums:
- Victor Hugo’s apartment in Paris.
- Newstead Abbey where Lord Byron lived.
- Edgar Allan Poe’s house in Baltimore
I have even given myself wanderlust researching and thinking about this. And, since it’s almost summer……. wonder where I will go next. And can my poor bookshelves take it?
