Caller Unknown Roadtrip
Caller Unknown Roadtrip
Where are we going?
In a cabin deep in the Texan desert, Simone wakes to find Lucy missing and a mobile phone in her place. The phone rings and the voice on the other end issues instructions: Don’t tell the police. Come to this location. Be prepared to do a deal…
So who knows WHERE we are going to end up!

The setting:
The lodge is in the middle of the Texan desert
“Beyond the lodge, crickets shiver the air like macaras. Outside there is only the alien desert landscape. No lights around as far as they can see No lights around as far as they can see, the distant sound of the main road if you listen carefully enough into the hallway.”
Its when the phonecall comes and the the roadtrip search starts that the real fun starts…..and the real map begins…..

Review
Whoah
Never go to a cabin or get on a coach with Gillian McAllister. Actually, they were the two tamest things when I think about what I got up to in this novel. Me and Sabine that is – the main character who dragged me round with her in the search for her daughter. I got very involved and what a ride!
Twisty, turny, fast paced and a great ride – but not one to do in real life 😉 We ended up around Texas, racing to Mexico and back…..and that was just the start.
There is some really good plot here, scene setting and an innate ability to know what will thrill and hook the reader. Think writing students would do wise to study it to be honest. A real fun and thrill of a ride…
Key quote:
“Simone doesn’t react, she’s an animal too trained to survive by – sometimes – doing nothing by playing dead.”
