BookTrail Travels to kick start the year

This year has been one of the most miserable personally. So, I have been offline for a bit and not even reading like I normally do. Books normally rescue me I thought. What’s going on? I needed books like never before.

So, there’s a book that I have been reading about in Danish – Mr Saito’s Travelling Cinema is the title in English although the rights aren’t sold yet I understand?. I saw that MAEVA in Spain had not only published this but were calling it their book of the year. Well, that got me thinking….

I could do with more Spanish books on my shelf. I NEEDED this one SO badly. Ok I could have gone to Copenhagen but there is a certain buzz in Madrid that I have utterly fallen in love with and couldn’t wait to go back. So I went to book a ticket.

But then as I was making room for books on my shelf for those I would bring back, I thought I don’t have as many French books as I would like. And since I am learning Dutch, I need a few more books in Dutch… So I booked a ticket…..that took to to Madrid via Paris on the way there and Amsterdam on the way back. Crazy or genius?  I say the latter.

Now home and happily basking in the glow that Mr Saito’s Travelling Cinema has left me in, my mood has lifted and there are tons more books in three languages on my shelves.

More importantly, I have had the Booktrail adventure of a lifetime and books once again have shown me that the love of stories really can rescue you when you are so down that you have even stopped reading for a while.

Book hauls incoming! How I managed to travel with just hand luggage is beyond me!
