What you need to know before your trail

DI Vera Stanhope is not one to make friends easily, but when she one of her neighbours goes missing she feels duty-bound to find out what happened.
She ends up at a writers retreat in the countryside where budding authors get together to work on their novels. But one person there will never have their story told….

When a dead body is found and Vera’s neighbour is found with  knife in her hand, Vera calls in the team. She should really hand the case over for she is too close to it really – but she can’t
Vera follows her own rules and forms her own investigation in to just what went on in that house…

Travel Guide

A writer’s retreat in the an old wooden and rickety house in the countryside. Sounds a bit like something out of Cluedo – where the people in the house are soon all suspects in a murder….

The house is something out of an Agatha Christie novel ( and this is no  bad thing ) for the plot and setting are just like that old fashioned and golden age of mysteries.

There’s the old house and the dark woods outside, a house full of strangers and in an isolates setting plotting crimes and discussing murder cases for fun…until one happens for real.
The Writers retreat and the locations are sadly fictional yet entirely realistic and the landscape of the books is centered around Northumberland, Kimmerston and Alnmouth which are featured on the book trail map below.

Imagine the days of old and the great crime settings of an enclose house where one of the party is the killer and the reader is the one to unmask him….alongside Vera and her acerbic Northern wit of course.
