What you need to know before your trail

Carrie’s best friend has an accident and can no longer make the round-the-world trip they’d planned together, so Carrie decides to go it alone.

Violet is also travelling alone, after splitting up with her boyfriend in Thailand. She is also desperate for a ticket on the Trans-Siberian Express, but there is nothing available.

When the two women meet in a Beijing Hotel, Carrie makes the impulsive decision to invite Violet to take her best friend’s place.

Thrown together in a strange country, and the cramped cabin of the train, the women soon form a bond. But as the journey continues, through Mongolia and into Russia, things start to unravel – because one of these women is not who she claims to be…

Travel Guide

Take the Trans Siberian railway on a journey from China via Mongolia to Russia

The Trans-Siberian Railway connects Moscow with the Russian Far East. it’s an impressive line of railways and is the longest in the world. The lines also link up Mongolia, China and North Korea. It was built between 1891 and 1916 under the supervision of Russian government so you can see it has history and heritage. Imagine going on a journey like this!!

The two girls take the journey after meeting in the Bejing International Hotel. One of the girls, Claire, had a friend supposed to join her, but following an accident she can’t. Claire meets Violet in the hotel and they strike up a friendship before taking the train together.

What a journey they go on! When the leave China, the train takes them via Mongolia and all the way to Moscow. There are some very interesting characters they meet along the way. Some they should hang out with and others you know as a traveler, are best avoided. But there are no limits and no inhibitions with these girls. They are there to have fun…and one of them is out to get revenge…but which one?

The journey on the train is exciting and unique. The luxury, the dining carriages, the cabins are all evoked enough to make you jealous and immediately want to board this train. Not with these two though…

Along the way, each city is visited and explored. There are insights into the cultures and religious structures along the way, but it’s the backpacking adventure, the nuances of travelling young, the sense of utter freedom and abandoness that really shines.

You  might want to think about who you meet when you next travel though!
