2000s: As it says on the cover – A new life is just a ticket away! Oh well that is just music to our ears and so off we went to the nearest train station…..sadly not to board the train itself but to sit with a book and a coffee to transport us there for free!
This is a story about people from all walks of life and all ages, cultures and tastes coming together on one of the most famous trains in the world.
As the story starts, we meet those about to board the train – Imogen is on a mission to recover a painting from her grandmother’s friend but she will learn something very surprising as she finds out more than she bargained for.
Riley is on the train with a special lady and he’s about to pop the question but will it turn out the way that he plans? Archie and Emmie have been set up on a date and Stephanie and Simon are in the early stages of their relationship.

The Carriages are empty, but for the ghosts of passengers walking up and down the corridors, their fingertips gliding along the marquetry, their scent mingling in the stillness in the air..
Who are these ghosts? Don’t you wonder who they were and why they were on the train? Well, we’re about to meet the ones lucky enough to be coming aboard on this most romantic journey of all!

Coming out of the Santa Lucia train station and into the bright sunlight of Venice was rather like stepping thought the wardrobe and into Narnia, only with water, not snow.
As the characters develop so too does the scenery as we whizz past some of the most sunning scenery you could imagine. Not to mention the air of mystery, posh glamour and just the thrill of being on the train itself. It’s as if Veronica Henry herself is sat in the carriage watching over all her characters as if in a vintage movie.
By the time they reach their destination, what kind of journey have they had and where do each of them go from here?
