What you need to know before your trail

Four students travel to Ravencliffe, an eerie abandoned hotel perched on steep cliffs on the Welsh coast. After a series of unexplained accidents, only three of them leave. The fourth, Leo, disappears, and is never seen again.

A decade on, the friends have lost contact. Oscar is fame-hungry, making public appearances and selling his story. Richard sank into alcoholism and is only just recovering. Bex just wants to forget – until one last opportunity to go back offers the chance to find out what really happened to Leo.

But as soon as they get to the hotel things start going wrong again. Objects mysteriously disappear and reappear. Accidents happen. And Bex realises that her former friends know far more than they are letting on about the true events at Ravencliffe that night…

Travel Guide

Cardigan Bay

There is no Ravenscliffe hotel thank goodness. The author does mention that in her research she did look at the Cliff hotel and spa on Cardigan Bay. Not in an awful sense, just that it captured her imagination. In 1889, it was put up for sale with a plan for ‘ The new Brighton’ on this stretch of coasts. The author mentions she has played fast and loose with dates and has taken bits of other hotels to create Ravenscliffe – worth checking out Ravenscar near Whitby and Reid’s Palace in Madeira. Now THAT would be a Hotel booktrail to remember!

Booktrailer Review

If you want the creepiest hotel stay you have ever had, get yourself a booking in this place! Pleased it’s not a real hotel but it’s a great concept for a group to return when the last time they were there, one of their party went missing!

The atmospheric from the start is excellently creepy and it gave me goosebumps when Bex finds certain things. When she explores, I was holding my breath. When she opens a door, I was almost closing my eyes! And I shall never look at a candle in the same way again.

Wonderfully atmospheric!
