What you need to know before your trail

Precious Ramotswe owns and runs the much beloved No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency but is having a few problems of late – staffing problems and problems with her staff. She’ll need more than a few cups of red bush tea to sort this lot out.

At the same time, she has a few investigations of her own to look into. There have been a few mysterious deaths at the hospital in Mochudi and a local printing company has a problem with missing office supplies .

Her love for her job and for Botswana will be more than enough to get her through.

Travel Guide

We could travel to Botswana and experience the life through Precious’ eyes as many times as we could. So thankfully for the price of a book, or even via a library ticket, you can fly to one of the nicest sounding places in Botswana and meet some of the most memorable characters you have ever met.

The pace of life in this part of Botswana is nice and relaxed and you will feel refreshed after your visit. Even if you’ve read the other books so that the landscape feels familiar to you, then you will see something different each time.

A small sun bird – Mma Ramotswe was convinced it was the same one who was always there – darted from a branch of the Mopipi tree near the front gate and descended on the stem of a flowering aloe.

There is lots of nice African philosophy served up with that Red bush tea so loved by Precious and her friends – “small acts of helping others, if one could; small ways of making one’s own life better: acts of love, acts of tea, acts of laughter.” there’s a lot to be learned from this kind of though and

Life here is gentle and calm well apart from the many cases that Precious has to deal with. Pity what she doles out can’t be bottled and shipped across the world.

The words, the characters, the landscape and of course the fabulous book covers transport you to Botswana and will make you want to jump on the next plane. And Precious will be there to greet you.
