Travel Guide

London

Blackheath takes on a sad tone in the city as this is where the book opens as a vigil is being held for a missing child.

Leigh On Sea

A town the author knows well.

The Essex Edgelands take on a ominous tone as the Beach, the old town and the railway bridge take on a very dark and eerie tone. A sense of abandonment yet an ideal place to escape the horrors of the city:

“In the old Town, where cobbled streets and a fisherman’s cottages rub worn-down stone against work-down stone against worn -down brick….”

The rain-dirty clouds are hanging over the estuary, spilling their polluted contents into the water. To Brian, it looks like someone has taken a lead pencil and shaded in the patch of sky beneath each one”

Booktrailer Review

Susan: @thebooktrailer

A sequel to a brilliant debut must be hard to write, the pressure to bring the story to a dramatic end, to tease the readers even more and to Rattle the readers even more than in your previous novel of the same name. Well Fiona Cummins, this is one heck of a sequel!

The action moves from London to Leigh on Sea – a nice sounding seaside town with parades and fairgrounds, cobbled streets and a beach – but in Fiona’s hands, you will not want to go walking or swimming here. It’s all very traumatic and if you think Rattle was an earthquake, then The Collector is the aftershock…followed by another aftershock…

The ending is the tsunami.
