What you need to know before your trail

Chief Prosecutor Sigurd Halvorsrud’s wife is found dead in front of the fireplace in the family living room. The cause of death is instantly apparent – she has been brutally decapitated. Halvorsrud immediately falls under suspicion. Then a journalist at one of Oslo’s largest newspapers is found beheaded. What links these two horrifically violent crimes?

Detective Inspector Hanne Wilhelmsen is called in to lead the investigation with her old colleague Billy T. But the most demanding task that Hanne Wilhelmsen has ever faced in her career clashes with the worst crisis in her personal life. Cecilie, the woman she lived with for almost twenty years, is seriously ill.

Wilhelmsen must ask herself: is the truth worth chasing at all costs?

Travel Guide

Oslo

Anne Holt’s Oslo is a very special kind of city. It’s is a mix of cold cases, tough streets and calculating killers. And one very problematic bridge:
“The span of Staure bridge towered majestically between the mainland and the peninsula a half mile across the fjord.

Staure Bridge was pretty narrow, Two cars could pass easily in the middle , but it wold be tight if one was a truck. On the southern side, facing the sea, ran a narrow corridor-like path for pedestrains, separate from the vehicle lanes”
Prime Minister Birgitte Volter was sitting in her office chair, her upper body slumped across the desk. She looked like a studewnt in a luxurious reading room, late one evening right before exams, just taking a little nap, forty winks

Then her assistant..”grabbed the phone with the direct line to the central switchboard of Oslo Police HQ”

Oslo Police

The police and legal team work from the police HQ in Gronlandsleiret 44 “which has no historical resonance unlike the previous building in Mollergata where the HQ used to be. The police seems to be bothered that their block is unlike the smart government buildings of Victoria Terrasse nearby”

Cases always seems to involve a conspiracy  or two operating high up in the Oslo legal system  and since Ms Holt was Norway’s Justice Minister, there is a keen sense of accuracy and realistic dialogue and other plot background within every book.
