What you need to know before your trail

Paul Davis forgets things. Why he walked into a room. Who he spoke to, and what they said. What he promised his wife he’d do. Sometimes it’s too much, and the panic takes hold.

But he wasn’t always like this.

Eight months ago, Paul was attacked – left for dead after seeing something he shouldn’t have – and has been piecing his life back together ever since.

During the days, therapy helps. But at night, he hears noises that no one else can. That nobody believes. Sometimes he thinks someone is in the house. Other times, the sounds are far stranger.

Either he’s losing his mind – or someone wants him to think he is. Or maybe something even darker is waiting downstairs

Travel Guide

Take a ride around Connecticut with Linwood Barclay

This is  a typical American college town. The university and colleges dominate the town, a lot of people live and work there and the students make up a large number of its inhabitants.

Two characters  Paul and Kenneth work there. What would you do if you saw a colleague driving around at night, looking a bit lost, maybe driving a bit erratically, what would you do? Paul follows Kenneth and sees the truck drive to some random places so he follows him. Although he soon wishes he hadn’t. The roads here are long, rural and winding. Easy to get lost, and lose yourself.

The towns of Mitford, Stratford and New Haven are all featured and they provide the wide and winding landscape where in one house, an old but normal looking house, there’s a man, his wife and a typewriter…..what’s that tapping noise?
