When Tim finds an abandoned and bedraggled little dog outside his house, he can’t just leave him there, can he? His parents might not want a dog or any kind of pet in the house but when it turns out to be the much loved pet of the recently replaced ambassador of Stanislavia, what’s a boy going to do?
Tim wants to try and reunite the dog with his owner but the country of Stanislavia has some very serious political problems and could cause Tim quite a few problems if he tries..
Of course it could also be an adventure!

The book states that Stanislavia is a fictional Eastern European country close to Russia, but it really could be a mix of a few countries. Of course for adventure purposes, Stanislavia is great being fictional as it does have a few problems! The story is actually inspired by a lost dog which was found in Podgorica, Montenegro by the author. He mentions this at the back of the book. Well they do say truth is stranger than fiction!
