The house in the story is located deep inside the woods not far from Sigtuna. It’s fictional thank goodness (the house not Sigtuna) and you might want to avoid the woods just incase. Sigtuna on the other hand is the oldest town in Sweden as it mentioned in the novel.

Up until they move, the only point of reference the couple have of Sweden is those little red Dala horses Ida brought back for them after one of their visits.

Ironically, Sigtuna is known as the place “Where Sweden Begins” – it’s where a great deal ends in the story!
