Umboi Island

Umboi Island is a volcanic island between the mainland of Papua New Guinea and the island of New Britain.

The novel is set in  fishing village and the media team do explore some of the island. Beyond the village, you see the jungle , the trees and hear the strange noises of the animals who live there

In the novel Laura and the TV team explore this island in the search for the fabled Ropen,. The Ropen is a flying creature that is said to live on the island. No ond is really sure what the creature is – It could be a pterosaur that survived the dinosaurs or some kind of giant bat. Whatever it is, it gives off a blue light when flying at night.
