However he walks into the middle of what could be a conspiracy which could not only rock the Middle East but the world. Masada, an historic fortress is the object of an oath taken by Israel’e elite soldiers and more importantly a symbol of Jewish freedom.
Steve meets Neena Shahud, a Mossad agent waging her own war against Hezbollah. He becomes involved and what follows becomes a race against time to stop the Middle East imploding.

Travel Guide

There is a very interesting backdrop to this thriller novel and the historical significance of Masada is extremely significant as a symbol of Israeli freedom and independence.
The word ‘Masada’ means fortress in Hebrew and overlooks the Dead Sea. A massacre took place there in 70CD destroyed by the Romans. the town and fortress of Masada was the last site of Jewish resistance and so is a lasting symbol of Jewish freedom.
Add to this a story about Mossad agents and a black ops specialist who comes to the MiddleEast on a mission, and this combines to explosive effect with history and fiction blending to thrilling effect.
The dust and humidity fly from each frantic page and the creatures of the desert come to life –

“As he waited motionless, crouched against a rock, he saw lights moving in the distance and heard gunfire. He sensed a snake nearby an held himself stock still until he saw that it was a stand viper, judging by the horns and girth”

This is a landscape where the hunter can quickly become the hunted, where a story of international politics soon becomes deadly. The desert and rugged landscape is unforgiving –

“The terrain, shrub steppe at first, became more arid and, eventually desert”

This is the land where nearby Iran has nuclear weapons and where Hezbolllah has won the most recent election. There are many extremist groups in the region and weapons of mass destruction are all the more real. oil refineries dot the landscape but the calm before the storm is about to shatter..
