What you need to know before your trail

Carolyn used to be a normal girl. That was until adoption day when her parents and parents of children around her died and they were all adopted by a man they called Father. They were taken away to a big house to be trained to be some kind of librarians. But these librarians do not just look after books but knowledge that Father has accumulated over many many years. He is seeking world domination and ultimate power.

So when Father goes missing and the librarians are barred from the library, things start to go very wrong indeed. The fight for survival and ultimate power will be a bloody battle indeed.
The booktrail to Mount Char is a fictional one but there is a real Mount Charleston mountain range which really sets the scene!

Travel Guide

“Carolyn, blood-drenched and barefoot, walked alone down the two-lane stretch of blacktop that the Americans called Highway 78.”

Welcome to the Library at Mount Char for from this opening line, the mood continues to darken and become increasing fantastical, graphic and bloody.

The library is unlike any other you will ever see.It is a dark, dark place. The secrets and knowledge here are the results of a lifetime of knowledge. Each librarian has a catalogue which they learn, Carolyn for example learns around 50 languages and counting. she’s the most bookish of them all. Some of the these languages aren’t the ones that most people would learn – the language of storms however could well be one of the most useful  in the days to come. The language of animals perhaps even more so.

David kills people and enjoys doing is so much that he is known as  “the slave of murder.” Someone kills themselves and then the others bring her back to life.

Father is the chief of this home and father to all twelve selected children. His training has ensured they are within his power and will do what he says. When such a controlling leader  disappears, those who follow him are lost and weak. The darkest times however seem to be when he is alive and when someone fails to do something they are expected to do. The punishments are graphic and gritty – he shoves them in an oven, chars their bones and then brings them back to life. Mount Char doesn’t sound so idyllic now does it?

The Library on the top of that hill might seem like a place any bookworm should head towards….but beware…..
