What you need to know before your trail

Patrick Rush, journalist, single father and failed novelist, decides to join a creative writing circle, in order to give his creative mind a  boost. Something to get his ideas flowing for his next writing project.

But it’s not long before something really grim, happening in the city of Toronto for real starts to influence the group and their writing. A murderer is striking at random and leaving his victims’ bodies mutilated and dismembered and also taunting the police with cryptic notes.

Meanwhile in the writing group, they start to read their own dark, grim tales. One of them Angela, tells a disturbing story about a child-stealer called the Sandman. This fictional story starts to blend fact and fiction for there are many similarities with the killer at large. Does Angela know something she’s not letting on and does the Sandman really exist? More importantly, what will his next move be? Patrick wants, needs to find out.

“It’s a time in the city’s history when everyone is pointing out the ways that Toronto is changing. More construction, more new arrivals, more way to make it and spend it. And more to fear, The stories of random violence, home invasions, drive-bys, motiveless attacks. but it’s not just that.”
