Why a Booktrail?
2025: Welcome to one of the biggest trials of the year.
2025: Welcome to one of the biggest trials of the year.
It is one of the biggest trials of the year. Three seventeen-year-old boys are accused of the brutal murder of an elderly teacher on New Year’s Eve.
Each boy denies it.
Each points the finger at the other two.
But they can’t all be innocent.
The three defence barristers have only one job: to persuade the jury that their client is not guilty. But they’re up against a prosecutor who needs to win the case, no matter the cost.
Because when the game is murder, the competition is deadly.
England – Abelford
Locations are not strong or particularly real in this book but that doesn’t matter. It is set in a courtroom and behind the scenes of a court so could be set anywhere. The brilliance of this story is that is it universal and that the story and setting are everything, location is secondary.
Legal proceedings have never seemed so dark….
The most famous and well known courts are of course in London and so these are the ones on the map
Now THIS is what I call a legal thriller
Complex and taunt, although heavy on detail in some places its narrative thread was tight overall, this was a heck of a read. Brutal and hard hitting. It really did take me to a place I never thought I would go. I questioned things I never thought I would question. It got quite deep in parts and I think readers will go away with lots to think about. Gritty writing but razor sharp.
I don’t normally read a lot of legal thrillers but this seems to me like a master class in how to write them.
