12 year old Thomas doesn’t really remember much about his mother. Except that she left or rather disappeared when he was five and he has heard nothing of her since. His father has become withdrawn and refuses to speak about her which makes Thomas’ search for the truth hard to find.
So he decides that he is going to make the best and biggest poutine in the world and that the attention all this will create will make his mum come back.

The story is centered around a boy and his missing mother so is quite poignant yet it’s the charm of the food that really tickled our tastebuds. Not sure of many books which feature this dish so prominently. Sit back, make a dish of it yourself and tuck in.
Talking about locations however, Quebec City is a major one in so far as Poutine landmarks go. Thomas lives in Quebec but it’s the old heart of the French speaking city that you should go on any Poutine trail.
