What you need to know before your trail

Just a coincidence? Rebecca wants to believe so… But as the police start to draw parallels between Chris and Kayleigh, it’s getting harder for her to trust his innocence.

Faced with an angry town that believes Chris has abducted the teenager, Rebecca tries to discover the truth.

But what she finds shocks her more than she ever thought. How well does she really know the man she loves?

Travel Guide

“Shawmouth”

Not real luckily as it’s not a nice place at all! Remote, isolated, cold and a bit of a sad seaside town which has seen better days. It’s not in any way modelled on Cleethorpes in the map above, but Shawmouth is somewhere in the Leeds area since missing posters are distributed there.

Cleethorpes is on the map to redress the balance. It has a nice promenade, a nice caravan park or two and some lovely seaside views so head here to read this book and be grateful Shawmouth is only in your mind.

Shawmouth is a cold, windy, desolate place and very insular since it’s seen through Rebecca’s gin soaked eyes. Imagine hiding out in a caravan park and thinking your husband’s disappearance might be connected to that of a young girl? Would make anywhere awful to be fair.

The author has also mentioned that hailing from Newcastle herself, she was partly inspired by the seaside town of Whitely Bay – not for the subject matter of course but to illustrate a faded seaside town (currently going through some exciting renovation!) Rebecca and co would be proud.
