Why a Booktrail?

2000s: A call girl is murdered in Tbilisi

  • ISBN: B08HM7N46R
  • Genre: Crime, Police Procedural

What you need to know before your trail

A young woman is murdered, her body dumped in the river, a sad but familiar event in Georgia’s capital city. But the victim was a call girl controlled by a ruthless crime boss. Could it just be chance that her clients included a senior government minister and the American manager of a multi-national energy company? And will anyone care?

Lieutenant Ramaz Donadze cares. A rebel—obsessed, mistrusted, and driven by tragic family history—he may be the only detective in the city willing to risk everything to achieve justice for the murdered woman.

For police work is tough in Georgia, a small country struggling to maintain independence from its former master, Russia, and to mend the damage caused by decades of internal strife, corruption and war. As Donadze gets closer to the truth, the stakes build, shadowy figures emerge and people get hurt. With his safety, relationships and career threatened, Donadze must overcome powerful vested interests to expose a conspiracy, find a killer and—if he can do it—lay his demons to rest.

Travel Guide

Travel to Tbilisi

An interesting visit to a fascinating city. Mentions of rivers, well to do areas and areas down by the docks…there’s plenty of places to hide bodies and have the police carry their investigations.

The city comes to life as does its history and heritage. There’s a lot of political information scattered throughout the novel which really helps place in both time and place. It’s a city not much explored in crime fiction so this is a really refreshing setting for this  kind of novel. You learn quite a bit too though you don’t realise it as the fact are woven into the text very well.

Abkhazia

One of the character is from here. This is a partially recognized state in the South Caucasus, recognised by most countries as part of Georgia, which views the region as an autonomous republic. It lies on the eastern coast of the Black Sea, south of the Greater Caucasus mountains in northwestern Georgia
