What you need to know before your trail

Crime author Ethelred Tressider decides to set his new book in Egypt and so heads off there on a  ‘research trip’ with his literary agent, Elsie Thirkettle.

They’ve only been on the cruise five minutes when an attempt is made on Ethelred’s life. Then the boat’s engine explodes and a passenger is found bloodily murdered. This was not the trip that the duo had imagined! And now along with everyone else onboard, they are one of many suspects.

Events take an even stranger turn as the boat itself however soon starts to drift away as if controlled by a party far more radical than anyone could have guessed.

Travel Guide

The Agatha Christie title of Death on the Nile will be at the top of your TBR pile when you read this. This pays a lovely homage to that classic and takes it up another dusty Saharan notch.

The humour is certainly as dry as any desert – and the views as the boat chugs its way up the Nile are stunning but:

“If I’d noticed any references in the tour brochure to a dead body floating in the Nile or to the cold barrel of a gun pointing at a spot precisely midway between my eyes, I might have decided South Wales in a blizzard was in fact the much better option”

Both Elsie and Ethelred believe different stories from the passengers and so no one really knows what’s going on.

Fun whilst you while away the hours on this literary cruise is to read the many newspaper interviews that Elthelred has to endure about the mystery. Never a dull moment for a crime writer turned investigator it would seem particularly one with a passion for the Golden Age!
