Travel Guide

Berchtesgaden

Berchtesgaden is a charming little mountain town, which was also a Nazi stronghold .

Hitler’s retreat in the mountains of Bavaria was one of the most important centres of government in the Third Reich. Hitler was said to have spent more time in the Berghof than in his Berlin office.

Although this is a fictional tale, this story of Eva Braun is based on fact. Gertrude Weiske was Eva Braun’s real cousin and was the inspiration for the main character of Marlene.

Events as portrayed in the novel took place in 1944 as Eva was at home alone and getting lonely since Hitler was away, waging war in Prussia. This was about a year before the 2WW  came to an end
