What you need to know before your trail

If you want to get to know the Bali which is off the beaten track that visitors almost never see then this is the book to do the booktrail with. Long term resident Cat Wheeler is your guide taking your around Bali and telling her experiences of putting down roots in Ubud.

Travel Guide

Written by a Canadian expat who moved to Bali to become a writer and adapt a much slower and gentler way of life. She has fully immersed herself into the community and writes about it in a fresh and witty way. What drives someone to live out here though?

Its stunning scenery, unique Balinese Hindu culture, tropical gardens and friendly people became an addiction.

As for the characters – well there’s even Balinese pigs, snakes and other critters of less obvious . But it’s the landscape and climate that shine – mountains , the area around her Bali home and especially the paddy fields used for rice farming. Quite a guide around a country and region you might have been to but you certainly won’t have lived it like this author. Such an amazing adventure and you can tell what it started out like by the heading of the second chapter – Scriptless in Bali! There are certain things that a tourist would never see, not like a native or like someone who has lived and breathed the Balinese air like Cat has.

You should also try to see Balinese pigs, the Bali starling and fruit bats to make your journey complete.
