Travel Guide

Barcelona

This is a book for visiting al the great restaurants and theatres of the city. Some are fictional or no longer there, but all are authentic and evoke the time, place and taste and aroma of the time. Ones to try:

Restaurante la Gran Peña

A restaurant of the same name as the club they go to – the food here is very good. In the book, it’s on San Pedro Street and is a bar and club

Teatro Goya

The theatre where Vilches had enjoyed some success. This theatre, which opened for the first time in 1914, was closed for economic reasons in 2004. But it was sadly missed and luckily it came back to life in 2008 when it was taken over  by the theatre group “Grup Focus”, which operates several theatres in Barcelona and other cities.

The Salo de Cent

The neoclassical façade conceals Gothic gems such as the historic Great Hall, or Saló de Cent, designed by Pere Llobet and built in the 14th century.
